Château
Faurie de
Souchard

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

Since 2013, a prime vineyard estate has joined Dassault Wine Estates: Château Faurie de Souchard. Adjacent to Château Dassault, the estate caught the eye of the group for its proximity and compatibility, as well as for the coherence of its terroir and its rank of Grand Cru Classé.

Located on the north-facing slope of Saint-Émilion, Château Faurie de Souchard stretches mainly over emblematic Saint-Émilion clay-limestone soils. It also benefits from cooler conditions that temper today’s recurrent hot and dry spells.

The wines of Château Faurie de Souchard reveal freshness and elegance on the nose, while their delicate, balanced mouthfeel is underpinned by lovely tension. They are rich and pleasantly expressive in their youth and unveil their full potential with age.

Produced from the vineyard’s youngest plots, the estate’s Second Wine, Pavillons de Faurie, is pleasantly expressive and deliciously easy-drinking.

Love of terroir, respect for the passing of time and exacting rigour at all times have been the guiding principles over the years in the tasks performed at Château Faurie de Souchard in order to produce great wine.

As at Château Dassault, the vine-growing teams are committed to a virtuous environmental approach: the growing of cover crops in the rows, which are seeded with legumes and grasses, and the use of vegetal cover crops as green fertiliser. These sustainable vine-growing practices, based on the principles of agroecology, have led to the estate acquiring an HEV Level 3 seal in 2016 and the Bee Friendly label in 2021.

In the same spirit and in the search for ever-greater precision, the vinifications are carried out plot by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel and oak vats. The ageing process is done in barrels or adapted amphoras for a period of 14 to 16 months depending on the vintage.
